Goal of the Conference:
To reveal the diversity of functional aspects of intercultural communication within the process of world education integration, to focus on translation and interpreting issues in the conditions of the modern society.
List of Main Issues to Be Discussed:
- interrelation between functional approaches of intercultural communication and interpretation issues
- intercultural communication in educational activity
- intercultural component of linguistic personality in understanding socio-cultural reality
- hypertextuality and discursive approach in computational linguistics
- formation of discursive socio-cultural competence of future translators and interpreters in language training process
- digital technologies in teaching / learning foreign languages
- computational linguistics and artificial intelligence

A workshop on literary translation will be held as part of the conference. The workshop leader will be Aleksandra V. Glebovskaya, Saint-Petersburg University of the Humanities and Social Sciences, a translator of prose and poetry from English, German, and Yiddish. Her translation portfolio includes works by J.K. Rowling, Umberto Eco, Rudyard Kipling, Arthur Conan Doyle, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and many others. Aleksandra V. Glebovskaya is a laureate of the Belyaev Literary Award, co-recipient of the “Paragraph” literary award, and a member of the St. Petersburg Union of Writers (Russia).
Conference language: Russian, English, Spanish
Conference format: In-person. Online format is available only for international participants.
Registration fee is 1500 rubles. For students – 750 rubles

Abstracts of individual papers (300-350 words not including bibliography) should be submitted by November 1, 2024
Attention! The best reports in person will be recommended by the Conference Organizing and Program Committees for publication in a special issue of the journal “Key Issues of Contemporary Linguistics” (K1) which is included in peer-reviewed scientific publications of the Higher Attestation Commission (VAK) of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. Submission requirements are available here
The best reports from PhD students and applicants (in person) will be published in the Scientific journal “Proceedings of National Association of Applied Linguistics (NAAL)” (K3) which is included in peer-reviewed scientific publications of the Higher Attestation Commission (VAK) of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
Submissions which are not meeting journal requirements or academic ethics standards will not be considered for publication!
Notification of acceptance will be announced by November 10, 2024.
Extended abstracts (300-350+2,000 words) are due by November 30, 2024.
Abstracts and Extended abstracts are accepted in English only.
Conference Proceedings are indexed in the RSCI database. The editorial board reserves the right to competitive selection of abstracts and extended abstracts for publication.
