4th International Scientific Interdisciplinary Conference

“Functional Aspects of Cross-Cultural Communication and Translation Issues”

Gorky Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Erzia International Art Foundation.

On the 21st of November 2017 the 4th International Scientific Interdisciplinary Conference “Functional Aspects of Cross-Cultural Communication and Translation Issues” will be held at the Institute of Foreign Languages of the People’s Friendship University of Russia. The goal of the conference is to reflect the rich diversity of cross-cultural communication aspects within the global educational integration process and focus on the problems of discursive social and cultural competence of future translators in the professional and language training. In 2017 this conference is a joint project of the Institute of Foreign Languages and the partners – Lille Catholic University (France) and Higher Institute of Tunis, Carthage University (Tunisia). The conference is supported also by A.M. Gorky Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute for Strategy of Educational Development of the Russian Academy of Education and Erzia International Art Foundation.

Traditionally the conference unites scientists and scholars, representatives of students from Europe, CIS, Latin America, Africa and Asia. The international linguistic forum is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Institute of Foreign Languages.

The conference will feature reports and discussions on the following topics:

  • cross-cultural communication as a global problem in the modern world
  • interrelation between functional approaches of cross-cultural communication and the problems of interpretation
  • cross-cultural communication as a factor in educational activities
  • cross-cultural component of the linguistic personality in understanding the socio-cultural reality
  • hypertextuality and discourse approach as linguistic aspects of cross-cultural communication
  • developing discursive socio-cultural competence during the professional language training of translators and interpreters
  • an integrative approach in foreign languages teaching as the phase in the creation of a shared global educational space

 

On the results of the conference will be published a collection of articles. The editorial board reserves the right to competitive selection of papers (articles) for publication.

Scientists and practitioners are invited to participate in the conference with reports dealing with issues of translation studies, linguistics, intercultural communication, pedagogy, psychology, sociolinguistics, problems of development of the modern educational process. Master classes of Russian and foreign specialists will be held within the conference; the special students’ session will work.

Deadline – 10 November 2017, for not local participants – 6 November 2017 (due to hotel or hostel accommodation booking).
